My project is a film adaptation of the short story "A Clean Well-Lighted Place" written by Ernest Hemingway in 1933 during the turbulent Second Spanish Republic. The story was censored in Spain during the Franco dictatorship and an important and significant fragment of its content was stolen, without which, the work loses its full meaning. My adaptation focuses on the context of the last military dictatorship in Argentina that began in 1976.

My main interest in adapting the story arose precisely when I realized that several generations in Spain and Argentina did not have access to the original version of the story until the end of the dictatorship in both countries.

The story is of great value to me. Despite the elapsed time, I find the work as simple and stunning as it is mysterious. The ideas established in the story are surprisingly valid in these times and I consider that their valuable reflections deserve to be adapted to a new audience, who may also feel motivated to read the original story, discovering the extraordinary work of the author.

The short film was produced thanks to the alliance of my film company Road Rolling Films, with the film company La Cosechera Films. Together we provided the production and post-production services. We also have the valuable commitment of technicians and actors who believe and support the project, in which they worked without any financial remuneration, providing their qualified experience in film and audiovisual arts. Also, the formidable musician Moby authorized us to use his original song "A Seated Night (Ambient)" as part of the soundtrack of the short film.

Fulfilling the desire to adapt Hemingway's story, led me to contact the company that controls the rights and permissions of his work. By collaborating with this campaign, you are helping us to pay for the license that allows us to show the short film at Festivals around the world.

If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:

  • With the 10%

To keep looking for the money to pay the license that allows me to carry out the project

  • With the 25%

To keep looking for the money to pay the license that allows me to carry out the project

  • With the 50%

If I manage to get 50% I could apply to the National Fund for the Arts of Argentina to compete for an artistic scholarship that allows me to cover the remaining 50% in case of winning it.

  • With the 75%

I commit myself to look for the remaining 25% among the artistic and technical team of the film.
