The BIBLIOCLETAS Project is an educational, cultural and sporting initiative developed by La Ruta del Teatrino. It´s core objective being promote and incentivize communal readings between the indigenous communities of Chiapas, Mexico, so as to facilitate education and cultural exchange in one of the poorest and most culturally diverse states in the country.

Throughout 2013 La Ruta del Teatrino intends to visit rural communities across Chiapas to offer a variety of opportunities such as the donation of books, storytelling, reading and puppet workshops, all designed to promote and develop reading within those communities. Also, by using bicycles as transportation the BIBLIOCLETAS Project intends to promote healthy habits like physical exercise, thus blending our three core passions, education, culture and sport.

In preparation, since August 2012 La Ruta del Teatrino has been doing voluntary educational work and promoting the use of bycicles in various communities throughout Chiapas. Approximately 500 books have already been distributed, and at present there are over a thousand more books ready to be donated once more funds have been obtained!

Our dream is to raise $4000 as this will enable us to reach every community we have engaged so far. All the money we raise will be used to purchase essential equipment such as: professional bicycles to help us go further for longer, bicycle parts, food and water to keep us moving and basic shelving for the books in their new homes.

If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:

  • With the 10%

10% of the funds will build one of the three basic loading/shelving units that we need to movilize the books. It will also improve the already donated bikes, and will buy the materials for the puppet workshop. The route however will be shortened and we will be able to only visit some of the communities included in the original project.

  • With the 25%

25% of the funds will build two of the three basic loading/shelving units that we need to movilize the books. It will also improve the already donated bikes, and will buy the materials for the puppet workshop. The route however will be shortened and we will be able to only visit some of the communities included in the project.

  • With the 50%

50% of the funds will allow us to build the three basic loading/shelving units that we need to movilize the books. It will also allow us to purchase two of the three bikes that we need to carry out the entire trip and the materials for the puppet workshop. The route will be extended to more communities.

  • With the 75%

If we get 10%, we will build the three basic shelving for the books that we need to load the books, we will buy the three bikes that we need to carry out the entire trip and we will buy the materials for the puppet workshop. The route will be extended to more communities.
