Why are we doing this project?
We are experiencing many crises - health, economic, environmental - that directly afect children.
The new generations are growing immersed in a high consumption of plastic, with a huge ecological footprint, little connection with nature and many threads to their future. 90% of the toys they win are made of plastic and have a low chance of being recycled.
We believe that there is an opportunity to transform consumer behavior, generating ways to make toys more sustainable and at the same time collaborate with local economies of native communities.
We seek to give future as a present.
What do we want to do?
We want to create a collection of toys made with sustainable materials, by artisans of traditional communities and inspired by the Montessori Method.
The collection will have at least three types of products: league-point games, puzzle and a dice game.
What have we already done?
In February of this year, we made a field trip to Salta, Argentina, to learn abaout handicrafts made by indigenous communities in the Chaco and to think about children's products that could be made in alliance with local artisans. We have presented the idea to them and that has inspired us to start designing the first collection of the project. It has also inspired us to create an activity book for kids - which is free and available online on our website - www.kurumi.global .
What is missing?
We need to finish designing the prototypes and order them from local artisans, then interact with them (in person or via WhatsApp, depending on the pandemic situation) to improve the products and make them suitable for children. Prepare a sustainable packaging and make alliances with marketing channnels.
What will we use the campaign money for?
The funds will be used mainly for:
1) Make the prototypes of the collection - pay for the materials and the work of the artisans;
2) Interact with artisans to improve products and make them suitable for kids, considering their development and safety. We will do this communicating through our cellphones and sending products by mail; and
3) Improve our website and make a social media strategy to share the collection.
If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:
-
With the 10%
We will make the prototype of the dice game.
-
With the 25%
We will make the prototype of the puzzle.
-
With the 50%
We will make a puzzle and a league-point game. We will implement a social media strategy.
-
With the 75%
We will make a puzzle and a league-point game. We will implement a social media strategy and improve our website.
