ABOUT THE PROJECT
After getting an ultrasound, Carmela (35) receives the news that she is pregnant. When she gets home she discovers Ivan (40), her current boyfriend, and Marcos (35), her ex-partner, talking. Ivan and Marcos have been friends and work colleagues for many years. Carmela's mixed feelings causes her to act on impulse by announcing the news of the pregnancy in front of both Ivan and Marcos.
In private Carmela tells Marcos that he is the biological father.
Padres is a short fiction film adapted from the short story "Padres" written by Gonzalo Unamuno. After several meetings with the writer we decided to go ahead with the project and adapt it to a film script. This was presented to friends and to Direction and Screenwriting II classmates at the Universidad del Cine (Arg), and then worked privately with Victor Postiglione, great screenwriting professor.

'Parents' casting and creative development was done during the quarantine and now we want to make it happen.
DIRECTOR'S NOTE
I am Francisco Luis Vignale, Director of the short film PADRES and Film Directing student at the Universidad del Cine (Argentina). Strongly influenced by our national film industry, and by the recent death of my mother, "Padres" was born.
My intention is to tell this story relying on the acting direction and its dialogues. This is the area I most want to develop in my professional career and it is undoubtedly where I like to work the most. I am passionate about stories with unexpected twists. Reason why "Padres" is a story where direcion changes happen constantly and without warning. I seek to impress the viewer with my capacity for surprise and realism when telling a story.
The theme of pregnancy, dependency, and parents' deaths are the themes I choose to support the story as these are issues that are continously arising in my social environment.
Parents is an invitation for spectators to start a new personal discussion.
