As the emergent impacts of the coronavirus mount across our communities, we have launched the "Carepackages for Chile" campaign to provide immediate resources to vulnerable population in our Chile Hub. We ask that you join us and make a donation today. We, as Melton fellows from Chile, recognize that as the coronavirus pandemic continues to intensify locally, it will have vastly disproportionate health, economic, and social impacts on communities of color—especially older adults, immigrants, people with compromised immune systems, low-wage workers, and people who are unhoused. In this context of COVID-19, the inequality that exists in Chile has been increased as a result of the pandemic. Specifically, due to their social and labor inequities, it has left many families in a vulnerable situation that is beyond the reach of the state; this has mobilized different social organizations to contribute to this cause in different ways. Our community partners are: - “Campamento Los Pinos": It's an informal camp that doesnt have the minimum conditions to face the humanitarian crisis (it only has access to water but no electricity) all families (62) are in a vulnerable situation and due to the pandemic, most have had to go live with relatives in the home of relatives; - “Aliwen Anay” (Santiago): a well-connected organization of neighbours working in Cerrillos and Lo Espejo, led by Freddy Lara who has several years of experience in managing diverse communities in disaster relief. They have done several campaigns to help weekly the neighbours who are old, Both organizations have managed to campaign and deliver food items to some families that had urgent cases to solve. Through consultation with our community partners, we have gathered information about how to most effectively provide immediate support across Temuco & Santiago in Chile, with the understanding that the impacts of COVID-19 will be long-lasting and recovery for many will be a difficult process. What is this care package about? In agreement with the organizations with which we are working, a care package was proposed that incorporates the following elements: Food: Milk, Pasta, Rice, Legumes, Tomato Sauce, Tuna, Potatoes, Sugar, Tea. Hygiene products: Clorine, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, adult diapers, pads. Masks: 2 per person *The Melton Foundation is also committed to the fundraiser and has pledged to unlock a matching 250USD in funds, once the equivalent has been raised by our team of motivated Fellows. One care package (that could last up to 10 days) costs 17.000 clp ( 22 USD) For one month it would cost 51.000 clp (66 USD) But you can donate as much as you want! We hope that you, too, will consider making a donation today to help our neighbors in need. 100% of your donation will go directly to vulnerable communities. We are as big as our sphere of influence. If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:

If we reach the 10 % of our goal we will be able to help 10 families in Chile.
With the 25%

If we reach the 25% of our goal we will be able to help 35 families in Chile.
With the 50%

If we reach the 50% of our goal we will be able to help 70 families in Chile.
With the 75%

If we reach the 75% of our goal we will be able to help 95 families in Chile.
