What is La Reta?
La Reta is a documentary focused on the football industry and what is behind it - the people on whom it feeds.
The soccer industry produces millions of dollars around the world, the business remains in force thanks to the global demand of millions of people who love this sport. However, the same people who feed the business have been forgotten by the mass media, remaining anonymous and invisible to the rest of the world, but all of them united by the love of the ball.
It is for this reason that we seek to reveal the relationship between the ball and youth in Latin America, through the stories that take place every day on the streets of major cities in Latin America.
The stories that we will tell, narrate the vicissitudes of the people that thanks to their talent found a weapon or a refuge of their reality, in the ball.
It is the story about the power of the human spirit to convert an everyday thing, like a ball game, into a weapon of hope and its exit from the harsh reality.
What have we done until now?
So far, we have documented four stories of young Mexicans and their relationship to the object that is the ball. Each of them tells us their own story, their efforts and shows us that extraordinary facet of their daily life. They invite us to witness their inexplicable relationship with the soccer ball, while reflecting on their political, social and cultural context. They are Fernanda, Daniel, Javier and Pedro (who appear in the video).
These stories form a great part of the footage dedicated to Mexico, which we still hope to expand with stories about the UNAM student team, Guerreros Aztecas (amputee soccer club) and other young people who dedicate themselves to freestyle and street soccer.
Why do we need your support?
We want to tell this story through young Latin Americans who live in large cities in Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. We will visit these countries for 6 months, living and learning with our South American brothers.
The people sitting next to us will be the guides of this great adventure, we will listen and we will talk in interviews in the concrete courts in Argentina, maybe in the pasture of some Colombian park, or maybe we will walk through the streets of Uruguay.
And of course, WE'LL PLAY FOOTBALL!
To achieve all this, we need your support to:
• Cover the cost of travel expenses to move production throughout South America.
• Cover the cost of travel expenses for food and lodging.
• Specific technical team that will help us so that our documentary has the best quality.
• Take our documentary out of the continent.
How can you contribute?
There are three ways in which you can support us:
1) Support financially.
We have designed a scheme of donations ranging from 250 to 10,000 Mexican pesos (which Ideame automatically converts to your currency if you live in another country).
All contributions count, no matter how small they are! In case of not reaching the goal, we will not surrender, we will simply make the film in less LATAM countries.
We do not ask for support for ourselves but for the world to know the stories of effort and struggle of Latin American youth, stories as inspiring as your own.
2) Spread the word
For the success of this campaign, it is very important that you talk to your friends about our project. Convince them to make an economic contribution, no matter how big or small.
Share this page through your Facebook, Instagram and email. Communicate why you think this documentary is worth it. Chat about it in your meetings, with your family, and friends. Our success will depend on how many people know and support our idea.
Follow our updates on Facebook, Instagram and on our website. Share our posts if you like or agree.
3) Technical equipment
If you are in Mexico City, or other cities that we are going to visit (follow our updates), and you want to donate technical equipment such as camera, glasses, hard drives, laptop, etc., contact us!
Likewise, if you want to meet us, invite us to a beer, or would like to participate in another way, write us!
What do you get in return?
Maybe you want to support us without the interest of taking something in return, but for us, every support we receive allows us to continue and is something we want to thank you for. That is why we give you the option to get a reward. If you do not want anything, let us know after you make your contribution.
On the right side, you can find the list of options we offer, depending on the amount of your contribution.
If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:
-
With the 10%
If we only collect this budget, we will finish the documentary project covering only the countries of Mexico, Cuba and Colombia, with the technical equipment we currently have.
-
With the 25%
With a quarter of the budget, we will finish the documentary project covering only the countries of Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia, with the technical equipment that we currently have.
-
With the 50%
If we reach half the budget, we will finish the documentary project covering only the countries of Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, with the technical equipment we currently have.
-
With the 75%
With this amount we have enough for almost everything, we will finish the documentary project covering countries of Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, with the technical equipment that we currently have.
