CHANGE WITH US THE WAY WE CHANGE THE WORLD!
A reflective practice demands of us that we are fully present to a situation, and that we search to understand it as fully as we can – in all its layers, complexities, nuances, depths – from a place of open attentiveness and observation. Inspired in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe science, this practice has significant implicationswhen we think about the ways in which we deal with people in the organisations, the ways in which we are accountable, the ways in which we structure ourselves, plan, reflect and meet... in order to enable our initiatives and actions to evolve as living organisms do, rather than limit them through the restrictive implications of our own management systems and approaches.
This Masters in Reflective Social Practice is then a delicate learning initiative in the art of changing the world. It is a programme where 15 people from different countries (South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Austria, Zimbabwe) study, learn and develop themselves and their practice intensively during three years. We share the question: what is our particular role in this overwhelming moment that the earth and humankind is going through? At the same time we come from completely different backgrounds and cultures, the way we act in the world is very diverse, we reflect a wide range of experiences including a farmer, a doctor, a researcher, social workers, educators, consultants, practitioners and facilitators.
The Reflective Social Practice is a radical approach for change, that itself is expanding the borders of our present world by approaching it from a different perspective than trying to manage change from outside. Run by Allan Kaplan and Sue Davidoff, this Master programme is unique, as it honours academic wisdom, and is also disruptive in the sense it has residentials (10 days immersion sessions) where we try to build and develop in ourselves the capacities to act in this way.
As the diversity in action we also have different financial backgrounds. Some can afford the costs and some are struggling a lot to be able to do that. We are looking for ways of funding our journey in a way we don't lose the integrity of the group and the practice for financial reasons.
