Over the past three years I have had the pleasure of producing, recording and mixing various album of Colombian Andean Music. In 2015, I produced and recorded the album "Mi Camino - 30 años" for the Trio Nueva Colombia, an album that features the strikingly beautiful compositions of multi-award winning composer Germán Darío Pérez. In 2016, I produed and recorded the Latin GRAMMY® nominated album "Pa' Qué Más-música andina colombiana for the Quinteto Leopoldo Federico and later that year I mixed the album Cita en Paris for the Lucas Saboya Quartet. Colombian Andean Music is an umbrella term that encompases various musical styles, the majority of them are largely instrumental in nature. A small, but brave cohort of fine compsoers and musicians have dedicated their lives to the study, production and dissemination of music. Yet little is known outside of the geographic barriers of Colombia.

Following the success of "Pa' Qué Más", I realized that we needed to unite various groups in one audiovisual project to help capture the essence and beauty of colombian andean music. In conjunction with Pelicula independiente, a film production company from Bogotá and accompanied by some of the finest recording engineers I have worked with in the past on various projects, we will be recording a documentary and album project in late June/Early July. Our goal behind this album is mass digital distribution on all streamimg platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music and the like. We want to remove the barrier of entry that otherwise would exist should the album and diocumentary be offered up for sale.

We are motivated by our love for the music and the respect we have for the various musicians who have agreed to work on this project. None of us are seeking any monetary comoensation and the funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will help us defray some of the production costs involved such as piano tuning, transportation costs, licensing, and distribution costs.

We invite you to listen to other albums of Colombian Andean music I have already recorded and produced (links below) to gain a deeper appreciation for the music. I have also listed below the groups who have agreed to participate in this project.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Alejandro Sánchez-Samper
