About the project
Amistad is a collaborative and feminist micropress that wants to do great things in small formats. We are interested in sharing ideas and images that allow us to reflect on everyday life and explore the local material reality. In 2016 we decided to unite our love for paper, art and words to collaborate with different Chilean artists and writers. In this twelfth edition we were selected to show our work at the NY Art Book Fair, from September 22nd to 24th at MoMA PS1. About us
We are a collaborative micropress that is proposed as a meeting place, collaboration and experimentation in production processes. We like to create low-cost publications on art, feminism, contemporary popular culture, poetry and photography. We are also a group of friends. Composed by Camila González, editor and journalist; Tarix, designer and producer; Daniela, responsible for editorial and creative management; And Sergio, editor. We like to make pizza and talk about fanzines! What do we do We make small fanzines and economic postcards about food, walks and self-portraits; Essays on contemporary popular culture; Artists' zines; Feminist texts; and Poetry. We work with young Chilean artists from different disciplines, gathered for the love of paper and the possibility of working with it as a flexible medium of formal and symbolic discourses. What will we do with the money? The money raised will be used so that our team can attend the NY Art Book Fair, where we will show the zines, postcards and graphic materials we make.
If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:
With the 10%
We will print the graphic material we are bringing to NY Art Book Fair
With the 25%
We will print the graphic material we are bringing to the fair and we will pay the table where we will show our zines
With the 50%
We will buy plane tickets to get to New York
With the 75%
We will buy plane tickets to get to New York and we will pay the table where we will show our zines.
