In 2016 we founded Bucle Editorial, a project to create our own books and fanzines.
"SMILE OR DIE" is our first book, a little idea that began as 10 black and white pages and has now grown to an ambitious 80 color, black & white pages, offset print, 15 x 21 cm size, stitched binding, hardcover, letterpress and only 120 copies.
"SMILE OR DIE“ is a book of photographs, paintings and drawings made by Jorge and a text written by Chebo. It´s a study on the "smile" found in the urban space - also known as :) - the supposed visual representation of the ideal of happiness. Painted smiles, edible smiles, designed smiles, cute smiles, honest smiles, fake smiles, sad smiles, evil smiles, belic smiles, billionaire smiles, powerful smiles, blind smiles, happy smiles. All types of smile, all over the place, all the time, everywhere: on phones, in newspapers, on clothes, on walls, as a tattoo, on your brother's visage, on your mother's face, on the president's one and on everybody else's too. Sometimes in supermarkets, sometimes in museums, sometimes in parties, sometimes here and sometimes there and sometimes nowhere at all. From Argentina to China, from Poland to Colombia, from the darkest part of the system to the sun´s face. They're there, drawing us in, speaking to us, filling us with joy and terror. The fixed smile: a lifestyle choice and a consumer aesthetic. Smile or die?
We're running this campaign over 30 days to raise 65.000 pesos (ARG) and cover the costs of:
-120 books, 80 pages, color, black & white offset print, 15 x 21 cm size, hardcover, letterpress, edition of 120.
-100 T-shirts made of 100% cotton, silkscreen print, available in S, M and L size.
-100 Zamak metal badges, laquered with 2 inks, 3 cm in diameter.
-our first photographic printer.

If you can't make it, don't worry be happy. You will be able to pick them up from our happiness studios in Parque Chas or Barrio Chino or we can send it to you by post.
