BOREAL AUDIOVISUALES is an independent film production company that was born from the passion of three film students: Julia Portanier, Marina Mucchiut and Milagros Cavallo. Since 2014 we have been making videos, we’ve covered social events and other audiovisual related work. This year we welcome our first short film that introduces us to the world of movies. To start this project we have asociated with SYNERGY, that is integrated by Carlos Salas and Nicolás Simchenko.
Berta is an excentric old lady, a gambler and a liar. Her family calls her Quiniela for her love for playing lottery and card games. During lunch her sons propose to her therapy, worried by the loneliness she’s been through that last year, after the death of her husband. Loathing the idea, she is only conviced when her daughter promised she would take care of the money for the therapist. Mischievous as she is, Quiniela takes the money and bets it every Thursday during games of Chinchón with her friends.
Quiniela is a film idea by Julia Portanier, film student in the Universidad del Cine Buenos Aires, produced by BOREAL AUDIOVISUALES, coproduced by SYNERGY. The short film was the winner of the extracurricular projects of the University in 2015, receiving basic filming, lighting and sound gear as prizes. The support of the University was extremely valuable, but the challange this team is facing is to collect the money needed for the total realization of the project.
Berta lives in La Plata, which is why the short film will be filmed in that location. With your help we will be able to cover Location, transport, food, costumes and accommodations for the whole crew. We hope we can count with your help so we can start filming this hilarious comedy!
Let the game begin!
POCHI DUCASSE, trusting our passion for movies and film making, was the first to accept to be part of our project. After reading the script she was sure, as were we, that she was perfect to interpret Berta. She has an amazing theater, film and television history, where she played great parts that got her awards and acknowledgments.
· She´s the youngest of five sisters
· She’s 71 years old, has 4 kids and 8 grandchildren. She lives in the house where she raised her kids.
· She likes going to the Casino, play black jack, and other card games that she taught her children.
· She’s a hoarder, with the house heavily decorated in a very bizzare manner, combining very luxirious items with the most ridiculous objects you can think of.
