Brief Exchanges on Feminism
What is this project?
In March 2012 we finished a documentary film on feminism, a very complex subject. We chose to deal with this subject through an excersice that was presented to five persons and that focused in the concept that all of our opinions can change, depending on the information we have access to.
We believe that this reflexive method is important, and its strenght lies on the fact that it tends to highlight the things that we have in common with others in stead of those which we do not share.
The film’s premier is scheduled for July 2012 and we wish to complete the film’s presentation with the development of a web platform. We believe that this will be usefull to enhance discussion on this issue and to improve the way we often look over reality.
On the side, we want to offer the possibility of watching the film for free, download supplementary material, share thoughts, link with organizations and people who are working on this subject.
Why a web platform?
Nowadays, the pull and the influence of internet channels in the circulation of videos, movies, articles, songs, etc, have changed the way many of us think through communication strategies.
The idea of creating a web site as a complementary tool to encourage public discution on feminism is motivated by this fact. The main objective is to bring to people a discution that is ussually kept at accademic circles, giving them the possibility to share and discusse on the net.
Materials will be available to consult and download for free, in spanish and english. We wish to encourage people from all over the world to join in.
Who are we?
Both the documentary and the web platform are projects of Cuarto Oscuro, an organization aimed at communicating ideas and research that are present in society, creating audiovisual and digital works.
Cuarto Oscuro designs and produces its projects and is formed by people from different disciplines that gather to participate in each new idea. It was created and is now run by Nuria Becu, politologist, an activist in human right’s issues and fimmaker.
